Welcome to "A Teenager's Look Through the Bell Jar"
Greetings! Welcome to my new blog. My name is Brock Colyar, and I am a teenager (as stated in my blog's title) looking to both gain experience in writing and share my opinions with others through this new forum.
My real passion in life is literature, so the majority of my posts will be comprised of my thoughts on classic novels, modern novels, nonfiction books, and poetry, speckled with a little social commentary and personal anecdote. I want to be able to discuss the basics of literature while also transcending its barriers to connect it to my life and the world around me. I want to share with all of you a "teenager's look through the bell jar." (As you may have noticed, I am a HUGE Sylvia Plath fan, henceforth the "bell jar.")
Most likely I will post my literature-based posts once a week, on Wednesdays, but for a couple of months I will also do a "Selfie Saturday" (here begins the high school, teenage nonsense) that will just give you a little insight into my personality and interests in life so that you can fully understand my voice as a writer.
Thank you so much for visiting my new blog! I hope that you will come back again and enjoy some of the things I have to say! If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments, feel free to either comment below, follow me on Instagram or Twitter, or send me an email.
Until next time, here is a quote by the lovely Sylvia Plath to get your mind thinking:
"I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in life. And I am horribly limited."
